Rimmel Match Perfection is Just PERFECTION...

I know I am a little late on the Match Perfection post band wagon, but I wanted to really give the foundation a go to see if it is all that it is cracked up to be. I have had this foundation in my make up collection since March last year and always thought that non of the shades matched me perfectly. So I started using a totally different foundation. After searching Superdrug and Boots for an alternative and trying out a couple of foundations, I found myself returning to Match Perfection. For some odd reason I found the perfect shade for me!

I have now been using it for 7/8 months and have completely fell in love with it. The finish as a medium coverage and is buildable, as well as being slightly dewy and fresh looking on the skin. I also find it quite long lasting without going patchy, cakey or disappearing off my face.

A lot of beauty bloggers/youtubers say it is a drugstore dupe for Nars Sheer Glow, which is a big bonus for me if it is. I have always wanted to try Sheer Glow but never felt the need to pay £30 for a bottle of foundation. Especially since Rimmel Match Perfection is a quater f the price at £6.99.

Have you tried Rimmel Match Perfection foundation?

A New Blogging Schedule

When I first created my blog I knew I wouldn't be able to do it all the time, so I only posted on a Friday. However, as I began to get the hang of blogging, I started to post on a Sunday and a Wednesday as well. Now, I feel I need to slow down with blogging as I am starting to run out of post ideas and am becoming too overwhelmed with blogging.

I have decided to change my blog schedule back to only posting on a Friday. I know it isn't that much of a difference, but I want to have more time to post and build a blog post bank, instead of being fresh out of ideas with nothing to post.

My Money Saving Tips/How I Do It

I have been trying to save money for a long time, way before my blog, and thought it is about time I share how I do it with you. I am by all means not an expert, this is just what has worked for me.

Christmas/Birthday Money
Every birthday, Christmas and Easter I get given money to buy whatever I want, and even though the spenaholic inside of me is screaming to spend it, I take £20-£40 out of the total and then put the rest in my bank account. That way, I don't have it in my purse and if I can't see it, then I won't spend it. Also, I sometimes put the money in my savings jar.

Keep a Savings Jar
I use a gingerbread man cookie jar that I was given last Christmas to save all my silver change and notes I make by cleaning the house or other chores. I also use a clear counter jar for all my coppers that I find in the bottom of my bag or that I have in my purse. This helps to save because you don't realise how much your change can add up and create such a big amount of money. A few months ago I saved up over £60 in change, I know it isn't in the hundreds or anything but it is still quite a bit of money.

Cut Down on Shopping Trips
This one is really easy for me as I don't really go shopping that much, and when I do, its only for one or two items. By cutting down on the amount of shopping trips you go on, you won't be spending a lot of money every other weekend.

Do Chores Around the House/Little Jobs
If you are too young to get a job and still live with your parents, then this tip is great for you. If I have a free day, I usually clean my house for my dad and then when he comes home, he gives me some "pocket money" for it. Also, I occasionally water the plants for him so I get a little more pocket money then. You could also ask your neighbours, only if they actually have young kids, if you could babysit for them. You never know how much they will give you and it could also become a permanent things.

5 To Try

I have seen a few of these kind of posts here on the blogosphere and have always found them quite helpful when I have wanted to try a new product. So, I thought I would create my own version and share it with you.
I took quite a long time to round up just five products to share with you, but I finally managed to pick the lucky five *pats herself on the back*.

Firstly, I want to talk about the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Transparent, review here. I love this powder! I am on my third pan of this and it is safe to say that I am not going to stop loving it in the near future. It keeps your face matte throughout the day and makes your make up last longer. They also have a great range of shades for yellow or pink skin tones. So worth the £3.99 price tag.

Now this next one has a lot of hype behind it, that is why I bought it in the first place and it is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creamy Beige, review here. I originally say this on someone's blog and instantly wanted it. It is so natural looking and makes a perfect base for brown eyeshadows. To say that it is called "creamy beige", it is neither a cream or beige. It's a taupey brown with a hint of gold shimmer. The consistency is very smooth, glides on your eyelids amazingly and stays put all day. I would highly recommend it if you have oily eye lids. Also, they have an amazing shade range from brights to neutrals! Perfect for £4.99.

I never really talk about make up brushes on here, so I thought I would share my favourite brand that you should try. I buy them from a small make up shop in my nearest shopping centre called Xtras, so I don't know if you can get them in any other shops. They are buy a brand called Royal and they do a wide range of different brushes from both face and eyes. Every brush that I own is super soft and easy to clean. I own the eye shadow brush, the blending brush, the contour eye shadow brush and two of the large eye shadow brushes and I love every single one.

Next to try is a fragrance. I have spoken about them a little and the brand a hell of a lot, (any guesses) and it is The Body Shop Body Mist in Pink Grapefruit. I don't even know how this has ended up in my collection since every time I have smelled it pre purchase, I have hated it. However, whether it has to do with the sunshine and summer I now love it. It has a very citrus smell to it but I think it is quite fresh as well. For £7.50, I can't fault it.

Finally, there is a hand cream I want to share with you. Again, it is from The Body Shop and it is their hand creams. I have photographed the strawberry one, however my favourite is the glazed apple one but they only sell it at Christmas time and I have ran out :(
They are amazing at not only making your hands smell great but at hydrating them as well. I find they make my hands super silky soft and very hydrated. A must have in your hand bag. I have only tried the fruity small tubes of hand creams for £3.50 and so far so good.

What five things would you recommend for people to try?

Things That Annoy Me About Being a Girl

After watching so many YouTube videos on what people's biggest pet peeves are, I thought I would share with you what annoys me. But not just in general, things that annoy me about being a girl.

  1. Periods. Why me?!
  2. Cramps
  3. Cat Calling/ Wolf Whistling
  4. Having to look on point when you are out of the house
  5. What hair style you should have that day. Bun, topknot, ponytail, plaits, fishtail braid. There are so many options!!
  6. Not being able to order a "manly meal" at a restaurant without getting funny looks
  7. Every size of an item of clothing I want is sold out apart from a 6 or 8
  8. When you get a weird look from practically everyone when you say you like Marvel. I am sorry, but am I not allowed have a slight nerdy side?!
  9. The fact that make up, after four hours of wearing it, melts off your face.
  10. Different shades and tones of lipstick. I can never find the right shade!
  11. When you have a straight guy friend and you get asked constantly "Are you dating him?" and "How long have you been going out?" Seriously! Why can't I have a male friend who is exactly that, just a friend who is the opposite gender?!

What annoys you about being a girl? or just your general pet peeves?

My Favourite Nail Polish Shades

Since I have been getting back into painting my nails, I thought I would share with you my favourite nail polish for every season.

For winter/autumn I like to wear dark reds, greens or muted shades. Out of my 15 favourites I wear Emerald Green, Tate, Chai and Cardamon. Even though they are darkish colours, I still wear Chai and Cardamon in Spring.

For spring/summer, I like to wear all the other shades as they are bright, colourful and very summery. However, the three glitters, Diamond Glitter; Pink Silver Glitter and Silver/Multi Glitter, I tend to wear all year round as accent nails.

What are your favourite shades in your collection to wear?

My Favourite Album Art

Since all I seem to do is listen to music and a blog is where you share your passions, I thought "why not do a blog post on it?!"
Last year I used to do a monthly music picks where I shared my favourite songs of that month, but I soon fell out of love with the idea as I had a hell of a lot of songs I loved each month and in some cases they didn't change. So, I thought I would share my favourite album art. The photo or image on an album is quite important to me as it has to look pretty and different to the rest of the CDs. Now, I don't buy CDs anymore but when I play music off my phone the album art pops up as my lock screen, so I have to look at it constantly and I'd hate it if every time I locked my phone, there was a ugly album cover. Also, the album art helps me create an opinion on the over album's songs.

My first favourite is the two Hozier albums, Take me to church and Hozier. The covers are so different to any I have ever seen and are really interesting to look at. Also, it makes me think that there is a story behind the two albums.

I also really like the Paloma Faith A Perfect Contradiction album cover. I just think it is stunning! Paloma Faith is one of my all time favourite artists and I feel the album art really matches the songs that are on the album.

Finally, I love the Sia 1000 forms of fear album cover. I think it really matches Sia as, whenever she performs, she never shows her face. It also makes me think that there is a story behind the album and each song that is on it. I have gone into more depth on this album which you can read here.

What are your favourite albums covers?

Skater Skirt & Kimono

I haven't done an outfit post in a while and I want to start injecting a little more fashion into my blog. After all, it is my blog and I can post what I want. Since it is summer, it is time to ditch the jeans and jumpers and throw on skirts and kimonos. So that is what I have done and I am loving this combination of the two, so I wanted to share it with you.

Vest - Primark £1.80
Skirt - New Look £12.99
Kimono - New Look Tall £14.99
Belt - Primark £2
Necklace - Select £5
Bracelet - Pandora
Shoes - Converse £48

I have never owned a kimono before and never really wanted one, however when I was browsing on New Look's website I came across this beautiful tile print blue, white and green kimono and for only £14.99, I thought it would be a good piece to add to my wardrobe.
After buying the kimono, I soon realised that I didn't have any tops to go with it, so I went into Primark and bought a bunch of vests to wear with it.

I have had the skater skirt for ages and thought that it would make the outfit a little more feminine and girly. I then paired it with my grey and very old converse to make it a little more casual. If I was to wear this out somewhere fancy, I'd probably wear my heels.

For jewelry I have wanted a simple statement necklace for a while and have always been a fan of the triangle designs, so when I came across this one I instantly wanted it and snapped it up. Also, I always wear my Pandora bracelet whenever I go out as I love it so much. The actual bracelet and the four silver charms are all real but the beads I bought from a random shop near where I live.

Me, Myself & I

I last did one of these 'get to know me' posts back in March last year and since then a lot has changed about me. That is why I wanted to create an updated version to give you the chance to know me a little better.

My mum and dad split up when I was 14 and I now live with my dad and two sisters, although it is mostly me and my dad as my sisters are at university studying for their degrees. I have two pet springer spaniels who I love so much, they are the best option for a cuddle.

I enjoy reading books and if I am not on my laptop doing work, you will probably find me sat on my bed totally submerged in a book. Currently my favourite book series is the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy with the addition of the new version Grey (fifty shades from Christian's point of view.) I thoroughly enjoy listening to music whether I am reading a book, working, relaxing or even in the shower. My favourite artists include Sia, Hozier, Beyonce, Jessie J, Bruno Mars and more. I don't have a specific genre of music I listen to, it's usually a mixture of chart music and songs from way before I was born, a very versatile mixture.
I am a typical British girl as I love a good cup of tea, dunked at least 14 times, fish and chips and a roast dinner. Although, my favourite food is pasta.

I'm not very sporty, but in school I enjoyed trampolining, badminton and tennis, even though I hated PE.
I have recently finished my last year of secondary school and studied Maths, English Literature, English Language, Additional Science, OCR Science, Food Technology, Spanish, Geography and ICT. Out of the nine, I enjoyed English Language, Spanish and Maths. In Autumn I will be going on to college where I will be studying Creative Media, specifically focused on Journalism and Social Media Communation, as I want to go into publishing and writing, hence why I created a blog.

Tell me about yourself....

Orange is the New Black

Now I know that orange is the new black has been on Netflix for a while now, but I have never felt compelled to watch it and, quite frankly, I did't have the time. However, since I have finished school and have so much free time on my hands, I started to watch old and new tv series that people have been raving about. It started with Sex and the City, which I finished within a week, and then Orange is the New Black.

A few of my friends have been telling me about how good it is and that I should watch it, so I did and I love it. Although it isn't my most favourite tv series, it ranks in my top 10. It is very different to what I usually watch, but I think that is why I love it. I had often find my self glaring at the screen with my mouth open with some of the story lines as they are so unexpected and different to each other, the creators really know how to come up with good story lines.
By far my favourite characters are Crazy Eyes (Suzanne), Tastee, Nicky or Red; they make me laugh so much and have such good stories.
One thing I love about Orange is the New Black is that each episode is focused on what character and you get to see what their life was like before prison.

Have you watched Orange is the New Black? What do you think to it?

Teal and Accented White

I recently bought this beautiful teal colour and instantly wanted to paint my nails with it but couldn't because of exams. I know that sounds really random, but in exams I get nervous so I end up picking off the nail polish or biting my nails. I didn't see the point in spending time painting my nails if all I was going to do is pick it off.
Finally exams were over and I could paint my nails with this stunning colour. However I didn't feel like just doing a straight colour, so I decided on a white accent nail which then looked too plain so I opted for a matching teal dot on top. I love them! They are so perfect for spring/summer, although the weather is making it look like it's autumn.

The teal is from Collection and is part of there Work The Colour range. It's beautiful and reminds me of peacocks! To say it only cost £1.99, the quality isn't one bit lacking. The brush is wide so you can apply it easily and the formula is very opaque so you only need one coat for a block colour, although I applied three as I like my nails to feel thick and like I have had a proper manicure.
The white shade is Barry M (big surprise!) and is in the shade Matt White. I have never used this colour and wasn't overly wowed by it. It applies quite sheer, not like the other from the brand, and took a few quotes to get an opaque colour. I still love it though.

Have you tried any of the Collection Work The Colour polishes?

The Body Shop Olive Scrub

Now if you have been reading my blog for a while, then you will know that I love The Body Shop! With a wide array of scents and products, you will definitely find something for you. For me, other than the body spray and shower gels, I love their body scrubs. They are the only scrubs that I have tried and I am that in love with them, I don't want to try any others.

I like how the scrub is harsh, but not too harsh that it hurts or scratches your skin. It is just enough to exfoliate the dead skin and dirt away and leave you with beautiful, polished skin. I tend to use the body scrub on my legs when I shave my legs, but not more than once. That way it lasts longer, since it is £13 you don't want to be forking that out every week for a product that will be used up faster than you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

The olive scrub, although it sounds disgusting, actually smells amazing and quite fresh. Also, all the scents are natural and don't smell fake in any way. I have tried many of the scents including: brazil nut, peach and coconut but olive is by far my favourite. It is just beautiful.

Have you tried any of their body scrubs?

Blog Photo Background Ideas

I recently found and read a blog post over on A Girl, Obsessed about what things you could use in blog photo backgrounds, read here, and it helped me massively think about what items I have that I could use to add a little umph to my blog photos. Since it helped me so much, I thought I would write myself to help any of you out there who struggle to make photos look "blog post ready".
Now by all means I am no professional. I simply pick a pattern I want as a background in photos and snap away. However, I thought just by sharing what I use in my photos and some other ideas I have, would you massively just as the blog post I found did for me.

Make up Items
By this I don't mean throw your whole make up collection into one photo. I simply mean put a nail polish or lipstick in the photo just to add a little colour to it. However, too much can make it look cluttered which doesn't make a good photo.

Blankets/Duvets/Clothes
You may find the photo you are taking is a little too bland and need a little pop of colour. You could add a piece of clothing from your wardrobe to the photo as a background and it can make it look so much better. Also, it adds a hint of your personality to photos and if you have clothes that are too small for you, but you can't bring yourself to bin them, use them!

Candles
Simply having a candle burning can make a photo look so much better. If it is a bright coloured candle then it adds a pop of colour to a dull image and can make a photo look quite sophisticated and professional.

Books/Magazine/Collages
You might stare at your bookshelf and think "I have read all of these so why don't I throw them away?" well don't! Adding a book or magazine can 1) add colour to a photo, 2) create layering, especially if you photograph it with something below it e.g. a table, and 3) shows your readers a bit of your personality. I have recycled my old magazines into collages by cutting out my favourite images from my magazine collection and then sticking them down on sheets of A3 card and layering them. I can be time consuming, but if you are a crafty person, then this is a great idea for a background. I also printed off a bunch of quotes to use as blog photo backgrounds.

What do you use as backgrounds?
