A Little Superdrug Splurge

A few days ago me and my best friend Lauren (check her blog out) went on a girls day out to Meadowhall, Cineworld and The Flaming Dragon.
Whilst at Meadowhall we went in to Superdrug to have a look around and picked up some beauties, also there were a 3 for 2 offer on all make-up so I thought that I sould take advantage of the offer. I also bought a cardigan and a mint green t-shirt. Any ways, I thought that I should show you what and bought and talk a little about them.

First up is not one but five nail polishes. Recently I have been wanting to paint my nails but haven't fancied any of the shades I had already got in my stash, so I that I should get some more and give them a whirl. They are all from a brand called NYC and they are around £1.80-£2.50. The shades I got are Mint Macaroon, Picnic In The Park, Hudson Breeze, Time Square and Rooftop Party Berry. They are all very different shades and are all stunning.

Mint Macaroon is a pale mint green shade. It is a close match to Barry M Mint Green but is slightly more green.
Picnic In The Park is a beautiful dark teal shade which I think is a great all year round shade.
Hudson Breeze and a bright cobalt blue shade. It is definitely a summer shade and a statement shade for my collection.
Time Square is a true red shade. I have had this shade before and it lasts for ages and looks stunning on the nails.
Rooftop Party Berry is a pinky red and a true berry shade. This shade is perfect for all year round and I think it will look great with a glittery top coat on top.

I also bought the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in translucent. I purchased this because recently the powder I use makes me look slightly orange and cakey and I have seen so many people rave about it so I thought I would give it a whirl.

Rain, Rain and More Rain

This weekend was a very productive and eventful end to the week. On Saturday morning, I was the first one up so I had to feed the dogs and let them out. I then made myself a cup of coffee and some breakfast (toast, bacon and mushrooms.) Then for the rest of the day I sat on my laptop and revised for my Spanish GCSE (that is the productive part.) I also sat and watch the rain through my bedroom window. On Sunday, I was the first one up again so I had to feed the dogs and let them out again. I made myself a slice of toast and then got ready to go to my friend's house. Whilst waiting for the bus it started to rain and go really cold so I immediately regretted coming out of my nice warm bed. When I got to my friend's we sat and chilled on her ipad and decided what to do for the day (we decided on going to the shops and watching films.) In the afternoon me and my friend watched Mean Girl and home-made lasagne which was followed by lemon meringue pie (first time I have tried it and it hasn't failed to disappoint.) When we had all finished we went back upstairs and watched the second Mean Girls. When the film had finished, we started randomly taking selfies on her camera and my phone and we couldn't stop laughing. Now as I am writing this post, I am currently watching Step Up and relaxing in bed.

What's in my make-up bag?

Recently I decided to put all my most used make-up into a make-up bag, so when I am going somewhere and staying over, I can just grab the make-up bag and go. Also it leaves more space in my storage for any new purchases.

In my make-up bag I carry:

  • My trusty Dream Satin Liquid. I'm not going to write much about this foundation but if you want to see me rant on and on about this foundation then click here

  • Next is my setting powder and powder brush. The brush is from Primark and I paid around £1 which is pretty good considering that the quality of the brush is great. The powder is around £2 from Superdrug and in my opinion it is a love or hate product (like Marmite). Sometimes it works wonders on keeping my make-up put but on some days it makes me look orange and just rubs off easily.

  • The next item in my make-up bag is my mascara. I have loved the Collection Super Size Fat Lash for months . It is around £2 and has ordinary bristles that leave your lashes defined and fluttery.

  • I also carry my Sleek i-Divine palette in Au Naturel. It is beautiful and perfect for everyday wear. It has a mixture of matte and shimmers which I love because you can go from day to night with just one palette. For £8, I think it is great quality, the shadows are soft and easy to blend and last for around 6 hours. Along with this palette I carry two eye-shadow brushes. One big and fluffy brush and one smaller brush. They were around £2 each and haven't failed to disappoint

  •  Next is a posh put from Beauty Uk. It is supposed to be for your lips, but the formlationof this product clings to the dry patches on my lips and the colour is totally different to what you see in the bullet and on a swatch. However it is the perfect colour for a little spot of flushyness on the cheeks. It is also very blendable and comes in a small range of shades.

  • The next product is the NYC Kiss Gloss in Murray Hill Melon. It is the perfect shade and adds a little colour to my lips. It is also very glossy but not sticky which I love.

  • I also carry a nail file form Primark to fix my nails on the go, tweezers to pluck my brows if I need to and a old mascara wand that I use to shape and brush through my brows.

My May Music Picks

This is the second episode of my music picks. Last month I wrote about my favourite music for the month of April, so I thought that I should do it for May and continue writing about my favourite music for every month.

My first song is Gorilla by Bruno Mars. I absolutely love Bruno Mars, I think he is a great musician and super sexy. I had the great pleasure of going to see Bruno Mars last year at the arena near where I live as a surprise birthday gift (I cried it was that shocked.) He is absolutely brilliant live and I 100% recommend going to see him if you get the chance. Any ways ramble over, this song as well as many others of his creations, is a really good song. I listen to this song over and over and over again and still can't get enough

My next favourite is Pumpin' Blood by NONONO. Whilst watching some YouTube videos, I noticed that Glee had posted a few more videos so I decided to have a gander. Pumpin' Blood was one of the remakes they had created and I loved it, so I decided to add the proper version onto my playlist and I have no regrets. It is so catchy and when I am on my way home from school, I always without a doubt listen to it.

The next tune (how uncool of me) is Fireflies by Owl City. A few days ago someone started singing this song and I instantly fell back in love with it. In fact, I immediately added it to my playlist and started listening to it. Even though it is a load of random, it is still great.

Second to last is Love Song by Sata Bareillies. This song was also recreated by Glee and that is how I fell in love with it. Whenever I listen to it, I have to sing along. It is brilliant.

Last but certainly not least is Magic by Coldplay. I came across this song a few weeks ago when watching the music channel and I hated it. It was repetitive and boring, but out of the blue I have been constantly listening to it. I am not a big fan of Coldplay but for some odd reason, I really like this song.

My Go To Make-Up

Every time I go out with friends, family e.t.c  I find myself constantly reaching for the same make-up, so I thought I would write a blog post on my go to make-up.
For foundation I use Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid, which is a thick foundation but feels light on the skin. It smooths over any imperfections and cover my under eye circles without help from a concealer. (see blog post http://thegigglyblogger.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/review-maybelline-dream-satin-liquid.html)
I then use the 2True Be Clear powder which gets rid of any shine and gives me a little more coverage.
For eyes I use Cappucino from the Sleek i-Divine Au Natural palette (third on the top row) It is a grey toned eye shadow and looks very natural on the eye. I would usually use mascara but recently I have been missing out that step.
For lips I use NYC kiss gloss in Murray Hill Melon. I tastes nice and isn't sticky or gloopy, which is a bonus. It is also a perfect match for my lip colour but with a bit more pizazz.

Review : Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

This foundation is brilliant. Around March/April, I was struggling with foundation since the one I was using (Rimmel Match Perfection) was not the right colour on me for some reason and didn't do anything for my skin. It was runny and wet looking, which to be honest is not a great look. I decide enough is enough and I should look for an alternative. So whilst window shopping on the internet, I took a look at reviews that people had posted about different foundations. Some sounded good and others bad, however I struck gold with the Maybelline Liquid.
It is smooth and thick, but very light on the skin. I have stopped using concealer because the foundation just glides over the imperfections and covers them up. I also love how I can wear it with or without powder and it will still last for most of the day.
On the packaging it states that the foundation will give 100% poreless look and and air brush perfection, which I agree with.
Even though I praised the Rimmel foundation in my March favourites post (http://thegigglyblogger.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/my-march-favourites.html), I think hands down Maybelline have won.

My April Music Picks

In the month of April have found myself listening to more and more music from different genres, so I thought I would do a post on my monthly music picks and include the links to the songs as well.

My first song is a new release from Little Mix 'Salute'. I am not really keen on there songs but Salute is quite catchy and I just love listening to it.

My next pick is Iggy Azalea feat Charli XCX 'Fancy'. In the easter holidays this song was played none stop on the radio and it got drilled into my head. Ever since then I have just listened to it over and over again.

My third pick is Paloma Faith 'Can't Rely ON You'. I used to be a really big fan of Paloma Faith, but she kind of dropped off the face of the Earth, so I moved onto other artists. However, her new single has drawn me back to Paloma and I can't get enough of it.

Next it is 5 Seconds of Summer 'She Looks SO Perfect'. Before they had released this song, I had never heard of them and when I saw them in the charts, I wasn't bothered. Until I heard the song on the radio and I was sucked into the song and have loved it ever since.

My fifth and final music pick is Will.i.am featuring French Montana, Miley Cyrus and Wiz Khalifa 'Feelin Myself'. Whenever I hear this song, I just have to sing along or dance to it. It is brilliant.
